About this board game

Galaxy Trucker is a real-time tile-laying board game for 2–4 players, lasting about 60 minutes, in which players build spaceships and pilot them through dangerous galactic journeys.

Each round has two phases: building and flying. During the timed building phase, everyone grabs facedown components from the center of the table and adds them to a personal ship. Components must be placed legally, with connectors aligned correctly and guns and engines positioned properly.

  • Build with engines, guns, storage containers, crew cabins, shields, and batteries.
  • Choose whether to spend building time previewing cards from the upcoming flight.
  • Take an order marker when your ship is ready, with earlier markers determining flight order.

Once construction ends and ships are checked, the flight begins. Cards are revealed one at a time, presenting challenges and opportunities such as pirates, abandoned vessels, disease outbreaks, meteor showers, combat zones, and worlds where goods can be collected.

Most encounters can push ships backward along the flight track, so players must decide whether the potential reward is worth the delay. Damage may break a ship into smaller sections or send valuable cargo drifting away, while excessive damage can knock a player out of the race.

At the end of each flight, players sell collected goods, receive rewards for finishing near the front or having the most intact ship, and lose credits for damaged components. The game lasts three rounds, and each round provides a larger board for building a more expansive ship.

In Galaxy Trucker, careful construction and bold decisions are equally important. After the third round, the player with the most credits wins.
