About this board game

Petrichor is an interactive action-selection and area-influence board game for 1–4 players, with an average play time of 80 minutes. Each player takes the role of a cloud in a lush world, competing to become the Most Valuable Cloud.

Your cloud’s purpose is to expand, sire other clouds, and water crops. Rival clouds pursue the same goals, so you must manipulate the weather and assimilate rogue clouds while contributing to the growth of as many crops as possible.

Petrichor is built around four simple actions that interact with fields in constantly changing ways. Players move clouds carrying water droplets, then rain those droplets onto specific fields. The challenge is to provide each crop with the right amount of water before a harvest takes place.

  • Move clouds and manage their water droplets.
  • Rain onto specific fields to support crop growth.
  • Influence control across the different fields.
  • Shape when and how often harvests occur.

During a Harvest, crops that have received enough water are scored. Players can influence the timing and frequency of these harvests, creating a delicate balance between maintaining control of fields and making sure that control matters at the right moment.

With its highly interactive weather system and shifting field influence, Petrichor asks players to coordinate cloud movement, watering, and harvest timing. A solo mode by Dávid Turczi is also included, making this atmospheric contest playable with a single player as well as in a group.
