About this board game

The Great Heartland Hauling Co. is a 2013 board game for 2–4 players that takes about 30 minutes, casting players as medium-haul Midwest truck drivers working to make a living by transporting goods across America’s Heartland.

Players travel between locations, picking up and delivering goods by playing matching cards from their hands. Most locations have native goods that are easier to load, while other destinations may offer premium payment for those goods. The better payout can come with a higher cost in fuel and time.

Resource management is central to every trip. Each player has limited trailer space and only five cards in hand, creating difficult choices about which goods to carry, where to go, and when to commit to a delivery. Fuel cards are used to move around the Heartland, while resource cards support the pickup and delivery of cargo.

  • Variable setup: Cards create a different board arrangement each game.
  • Hand management: Work within a five-card hand while seeking useful matches.
  • Press-your-luck decisions: Weigh potential rewards against fuel and time demands.
  • Shared drafting: Resource cards are drawn from a common draft board.

The game includes 60 goods cubes, four thick cardboard trucks, 46 resource cards, and 20 fuel cards. With changing layouts and shifting delivery opportunities, The Great Heartland Hauling Co. offers replayable trucking challenges built around planning, probability, and making the most of every load.
