Word Slam Family

About this board game

Word Slam Family is a communication party game for 3–99 players, with games lasting about 45 minutes. Two teams compete simultaneously to identify hidden words or phrases through card-based clues, without speaking or acting.

In each round, one player on each team becomes the explainer. Their goal is to make teammates guess the secret answer using only the available explanatory cards. Each card contains a single word, such as a noun, verb, adjective, or preposition, and players may use as many cards as they wish to build their clue.

The challenge is to create a clear story from limited words while the opposing team works on its own answer. The first team to guess correctly scores a point, and the team with the most points at the end wins.

• Silent communication: speaking and acting are forbidden.
• Team competition: both teams give clues and guess at the same time.
• Large answer variety: 100 answer cards provide a total of 600 answer terms.
• Seven categories: the answer cards are divided into seven categories.

This compact version includes 100 story word cards and 100 answer cards. Instead of a sand timer, players use a timer on a phone, while the two box halves act as screens between the teams and conceal the answer cards.

Word Slam Family can be played on its own or used as an expansion to the base game. Released in 2018, it offers a fast, creative test of teamwork, interpretation, and concise word association.
