Liberty or Death: The American Insurrection is a card-assisted counterinsurgency game for 1–4 players, with a playing time of approximately 360 minutes. Set during the American Revolution, it places British, Patriot, Indian, and French factions in a struggle shaped by military action, politics, resources, and public support.

Each card presents difficult choices and opportunities across a large region. British control of the seas provides flexibility, while Patriots must build support, use militia, train Continentals, and cooperate with France. The Indian faction develops villages and War Parties while working with the British, and France can fund the Patriot cause, bring in Regulars, use privateers, impose blockades, and increase naval intervention.

Brilliant Strokes can trump initiative when leaders such as Washington, Rochambeau, Clinton, and Joseph Brant take the field. Regular troops, irregular forces, battles, skirmishes, persuasion, looting, trading, foraging, and other Commands combine political and military decisions in a changing conflict.

Designed by Harold Buchanan and developed within GMT’s COIN Series, Liberty or Death offers a 110-plus-card deck for varied play. Its mounted 22-by-34-inch board, wooden faction pieces, leaders, markers, dice, rulebook, and playbook support a detailed area-movement game of the struggle that built a nation.
