About this expansion

The Manhattan Project: Second Stage is a 2013 expansion set for 2–5 players, with a play time of 120 minutes. It consists of four small expansions that can be added to the base game individually or combined.

Nations 2 follows the format of the previous Nations expansion. Each player receives one country card representing a nation and granting a special power, with seven new countries and powers included.

  • Rocket Technology: Build a rocket factory when taking the “Design Bomb” action. Rockets function like bombers, but fighters provide no defense against them.
  • H-Bomb Technology: Upgrade the “Design Bomb” action by returning an available bomb to the bottom of the deck to acquire an H-Bomb card. Building an H-Bomb requires Lithium Deuteride from new cards that work similarly to Mines.
  • Personalities: Add seven roles based on real individuals who contributed to the Manhattan Project. Each time you retrieve your workers, select a different role and receive its persistent benefits until the next retrieval.

These modules introduce new powers, military options, bomb designs, resources, and worker-retrieval effects while remaining separate additions to the base game. You can choose which elements to include, or use all four together.

With its country powers, rocket factories, H-Bomb development, Lithium Deuteride cards, and historical personalities, The Manhattan Project: Second Stage expands the ways the base game can be played without requiring every module at once.
