The Castles of Burgundy: 8th Expansion – Trade Routes is a small expansion for The Castles of Burgundy for 2–4 players. It introduces face-up Trading Routes that give players new display spaces to fill when they sell goods.

Each player receives a number of Trading Route cards based on the player count. In a two-player game, each player receives five cards; with three players, each receives four; and with four players, each receives three. Place these cards side by side above your player board to form a personal trading route.

When selling goods, the usual requirement still applies: all the goods sold must be of one kind. Instead of placing the sold tiles on the corresponding space of the player board, place them on your Trading Route cards. Fill the display spaces from left to right, creating a clear progression along the route.

• 2 players: 5 Trading Route cards each
• 3 players: 4 Trading Route cards each
• 4 players: 3 Trading Route cards each
• Place sold goods from left to right on the route
• Receive the shown bonus immediately when a tile matches a display space’s color

The color of each display space matters. If the color of a placed tile matches the color shown on that space, the player immediately receives the bonus displayed there. This adds a focused way to connect goods sales with the spaces on the route.

Trade Routes was released in 2017 and was included in the Notre Dame: 10th Anniversary game, with the possibility of being available separately.
