About this board game
1815, Scum of the Earth: The Battle of Waterloo Card Game is an asymmetric card game for 1–2 players, with an approximate playing time of 60 minutes. Set during the legendary Battle of Waterloo, it places players in the roles of the Duke of Wellington or Napoleon Bonaparte.
Each side must muster troops and resources while overcoming the obstacles in its path. The opposing armies then meet in an epic struggle across three farms forward of the ridge at Waterloo: Hougoumont, La Haye Sainte, and Papelotte.
Designed for quick, tactical play, 1815, Scum of the Earth offers a thematic re-imagining of the events of 18th June 1815. Napoleon is determined to return to power and claim Europe, while Wellington commands the forces standing against him, supported by his Prussian ally Blücher.
- Asymmetric competition: Play as Wellington or Napoleon, with each side pursuing its own path to the final clash.
- Historically inspired cards: Every card draws inspiration from a real person or event from the period.
- Immediate setup: The game is non-collectable and requires no deck building; each player takes a deck, shuffles, and begins.
- Historic Epic Battle System: It is the third game in the series and is fully compatible with 1066, Tears to Many Mothers and 1565, St. Elmo’s Pay.
The title reflects Wellington’s own description of his troops as the “scum of the earth,” a remark concerning their backgrounds rather than their formidable fighting ability. With its focus on named historical figures, pivotal events, and tactical decisions, 1815, Scum of the Earth brings the Battle of Waterloo to the table in a compact, card-driven format.
