About this board game

A Pleasant Journey to Neko is a dice strategy game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. Across four rounds and two periods, players plan a route toward the Antarctic harbor of Neko while trying to see the most penguins.

Each round, players roll and draft dice, then use them to exchange resources, activate card abilities, or bid on additional cards. Players also have several free actions available, including exchanging resources, adjusting dice, buying and moving ships, and opening harbors to create more ship lanes.

  • Build ship lanes and create custom hubs for additional locations and powerful actions.
  • Advance ships to score points and combine them with dice in your hubs.
  • Visit more harbours and deliver goods to improve your chances of seeing penguins.
  • Avoid actions that interfere with Antarctica’s ecology and cause penguins to move away.

Mid-game scoring takes place once in each period, rewarding careful planning as your network and fleet develop. The card-laying system offers more than a hundred possible card combinations, helping make every game different and surprising.

With its distinctive dice-drafting mechanism, flexible free actions, and route-building decisions, A Pleasant Journey to Neko invites players to plan ahead while adapting to the opportunities available. For an added challenge, the advance mode introduces more obstacles on the way to Neko.
