About this board game

Alhambra: Big Box (Second Edition) is a strategy game for 2–6 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Players acquire buildings and arrange them within their own Alhambra complex, competing to create the most successful domain.

Money is available in an open market across four different currencies. The building market displays four buildings at a time, with one building available in each currency. On a turn, a player may take money, purchase a building to place in their Alhambra or reserve, or carry out construction and reconstruction projects using buildings already placed or reserved.

Careful spending is rewarded. When a player pays the exact amount required for a building, they may take another turn, creating opportunities for efficient chains of actions. Choosing when to collect money, make a purchase, reserve a building, or alter an existing complex is central to building an effective strategy.

  • Compete across six different building types.
  • Earn points for having the most buildings in each type during the scoring phases.
  • Score for the longest external wall section within your complex.
  • Use reserves and reconstruction projects to refine your developing Alhambra.

The game ends when the building market can no longer be replenished from the building tile supply. A final scoring follows, and the player with the highest score wins. This edition features all-new artwork and includes all six expansions plus two Queenies, providing a total of 26 modules.

With its mix of collection, payment efficiency, spatial development, and majority scoring, Alhambra: Big Box (Second Edition) offers a substantial presentation of the classic Alhambra experience in one box.
