About this board game
Animalia is a light card game for 2–6 players, playable in about 20 minutes and suitable for ages 7 and up. Over three seasons, players compete to become the Best Breeder by presenting the finest collection of show animals.
Each season unfolds in three phases. First, players take turns drafting five animals into their collections. Then they compare the elegance of their animals by counting the stars at the top of their cards, with bonuses awarded to the two players whose collections are the most elegant.
- Draft animals into your collection.
- Compare elegance using the stars on your animal cards.
- Earn medals for animal families and variety.
At the end of each season, medals are awarded. You can earn animal medals by collecting multiple animals from the same family or by assembling five different animals. The player with the highest number of medals after the third season wins.
Every collection matters, but your opponents are working toward the same goal. Keep an eye on their animals as well as your own, and be ready for the special powers that animals can use to spoil carefully made plans. Card-drawing introduces a luck factor, giving children a chance to win alongside adults.
Designed as a real family game rather than a mere advertising product, Animalia combines accessible rules with competition between breeders. Originally released in 2006, it offers a shared challenge for players who enjoy collecting animals, comparing sets, and chasing the top of the medal table.
