About this board game

Apiary is a worker-placement and hive-building board game for 1–5 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. Set in a far-distant future, it follows the Mellifera: an advanced species of honeybees that evolved after humans disappeared from Earth.

Each player leads one of twenty unique factions, beginning with a hive, a few resources, and a group of worker bees. Across one year’s Flow, your faction must make the most of its limited opportunities while the approaching Dearth threatens to bring your workers’ activity to an end.

Every decision contributes to your faction’s progress and its measured victory points. Workers can perform only a limited number of actions before they must hibernate, creating a race against time as you develop your hive and pursue your goals.

The Mellifera have made substantial technological advances, combining their own innovations with technology adapted from human ruins—even reaching the era of space travel. This gives Apiary a distinctive setting where advanced civilization, exploration, and the legacy of a vanished species come together.
