About this board game

Barragoon is a completely strategic two-player game with no random factor, offering a 120-minute duel of tactical movement, captures, and evolving obstacles.

Each player moves their tiles and arranges the barragoon pieces to pursue two possible goals: capture all of the opponent’s tiles or impede their progress until they have no tiles left that can be moved. Every decision can affect the routes and opportunities available later in the game.

The barragoon piece is the central element of play. Each of its sides displays a different symbol, and the uppermost symbol determines which directions are blocked or freed for tile movement. This makes the position and orientation of every barragoon especially important.

  • Two-player, completely strategic gameplay
  • No random factor
  • Directional movement controlled by barragoon symbols
  • Captured barragoon pieces can return to the board at a free chosen position
  • The board becomes increasingly crowded as the game progresses

When a barragoon piece is captured, it is not necessarily gone for good. It can be placed again on any free chosen position, allowing a player to block or attack the opponent, or to protect their own tiles. This creates opportunities to reshape the situation after a capture.

The game’s distinctive escalation comes whenever a tile is captured: two new barragoon pieces must be added to the board. As more pieces appear, the board becomes increasingly crowded, raising the risk that a player will be locked up while also creating new chances to overcome the opponent.

With its unexpected turns and growing positional complexity, Barragoon rewards careful tactical planning from beginning to end.
