About this expansion
BattleTech: Total Warfare is a comprehensive Classic BattleTech rules reference for 2–6 players, with battles designed to take about 120 minutes. Set in the 31st century, it focuses on the endless wars of human-occupied space, where rival star empires clash across deadly battlefields.
At the heart of these conflicts are BattleMechs: 30-foot-tall humanoid machines equipped with lasers, autocannons and other powerful weapons. Players command elite MechWarriors and the forces supporting them, seeking victory while deciding whether their units become legends or casualties of war.
Total Warfare brings the rules for a wide range of units into one unified system. Its coverage includes:
- BattleMechs and ProtoMechs
- Combat Vehicles and Support Vehicles
- Infantry and power armored infantry
- Aerospace fighters and DropShips
Interwoven and updated, the rules provide a detailed framework for battles involving the many forces of Classic BattleTech. Support units can be wielded alongside BattleMechs by a skilled commander, adding armored vehicles, infantry and aerospace forces to the struggle for factional power and glory.
BattleTech: Total Warfare is intended as a reference work for players who already know the game, rather than as an introduction for newcomers. It expands on the rules found in the basic box set and is designed as the single-source rulebook for standard tournament play.
New players are directed to the Classic BattleTech Introductory Box Set before moving on to this volume. Construction rules for the units presented here appear in the Classic BattleTech TechManual. This edition is the Corrected Second Printing by Catalyst Game Labs.
