About this expansion
Belfort: The Expansion Expansion is a board game for 2–5 players, with approximately 90 minutes of play time, in which architects construct expansions to their existing buildings.
The King has requested more work on the properties already under construction. To help, he allows the architects to use his Assistants. These valuable helpers are chosen in reverse turn order every round, giving players a new way to plan their actions as the game progresses.
Each Assistant has a unique ability, and that ability changes every season. Players must decide how best to use the available help: an Assistant can support their own ability, or be used to acquire a new permit for an expansion.
- Expand your existing buildings with new permits.
- Choose Assistants in reverse turn order each round.
- Use changing seasonal abilities or acquire expansion permits.
- Pursue new and individual scoring paths for your properties.
These expansions give every player access to personal scoring opportunities as they develop their own properties. The result is an additional layer of choice built around the timing of Assistant selection and the decision between using an ability or securing a permit.
The expansion also includes new guilds. Some of these guilds can be used with only the base game, while others require components from the expansion, allowing Belfort players to combine the guild content according to the components available.
Released in 2013, Belfort: The Expansion Expansion adds seasonal Assistant abilities, expansion permits, individual scoring paths, and new guilds to the Belfort experience without changing its focus on developing each player’s properties.
