About this board game
Bloodstones is a fantasy wargame for 1–6 players, with games lasting about 180 minutes. Choose from six different races, each with its own powers and distinctive mix of units, then compete to earn the most victory points.
Victory points come from several paths. Build your own villages, raid those belonging to other players, and win battles as you expand your presence across the board.
At the beginning of the game, players arrange their domino-shaped tiles into stacks and draw a starting hand of nine. You then decide where to place your citadel and which tiles will accompany it. Racial identity is reflected in the units available: Dragon Riders can field dragons, while the Hill Folk have giants.
Every tile is versatile. When placed on the board, a tile becomes a unit identified by the symbol in its center. Tiles in your hand can instead help you build units, move forces, improve combat strength, construct villages, or raid villages.
- Six fantasy races: Each race has specific powers and a unique combination of units.
- Multi-use domino-shaped tiles: Use tiles on the board as units or from your hand to support a range of actions.
- Open-ended turns: Perform as many actions as you wish, subject to restrictions on certain actions.
- Victory-point competition: Score for villages and successful battles while raiding opponents’ settlements.
After taking actions, draw back up to a hand of six tiles. When your stock is exhausted, shuffle your discarded tiles to create a new draw stock, and score points for villages you control on the board.
Bloodstones ends once each player has scored points a set number of times: three times in a two-player game, or twice with three or more players. The result is a strategic fantasy contest built around adaptable tiles, distinctive races, villages, raids, and battle.
