About this board game
Careers is a board game for 2–6 players, played in about 60 minutes, where each player sets a personal victory goal built from fame, happiness, money, or a combination of all three.
Every player must decide how to distribute a total of 60 points among the three categories. You might seek 60 Happiness, 60 Fame, 60 Money, 20 points in each category, or any other combination that totals 60. The first player or team to fulfill their chosen goal wins.
To reach that goal, players move through different occupation paths. Each path has a prerequisite for entry, while returning to a path can provide additional benefits. The available occupations support different strategies, allowing players to pursue the route that best matches their personal ambitions.
- Fame: Hollywood is designed to be especially useful for pursuing fame points.
- Happiness: Going to Sea is suited to a happiness-focused strategy.
- Balance: Players can divide their target across fame, happiness, and money in any combination totaling 60.
Because victory conditions are chosen by the players themselves, Careers offers a distinct objective for every participant. One player may aim for a life rich in happiness, while another may prioritize fame or money, creating a race toward different definitions of success.
First released in 1955, Careers turns personal ambition into the central game system. Choose what you want from life, navigate the occupation paths, and achieve everything you ever wanted before your opponents do.
