About this board game
Chase is a two-player dice strategy game played in about 45 minutes, with each player directing nine dice across a hexagonal board.
Each side begins with a row of nine six-sided dice whose face values total 25. On a turn, move one die in a straight line by the number shown on its face. Dice cannot pass through other pieces, but they can wrap around the board’s side or bounce off the front or back wall at an angle while still moving their full distance.
- Capture opponents: Landing on an opposing die removes it, then adds its value to the lowest die on that opponent’s team so their pip count remains 25.
- Bump your own dice: Landing on one of your dice pushes it one space in the same direction, potentially causing further bumps or a capture.
- Adjust adjacent dice: Instead of moving, change the values of two neighboring dice while keeping their combined total unchanged.
- Use the chamber: Landing on the board’s central chamber splits a die’s value between two dice as evenly as possible.
The central chamber blocks movement through it. Dice emerging from the chamber appear on adjacent spaces, where their arrival can trigger bumps or captures; the game begins with one spare die for this purpose.
A die reaching 6 can receive any remaining movement as additional value on the lowest die. Keep your formation moving and your pip total intact, because reducing an opponent to only four dice leaves them below 25 and costs them the game.
With its combination of measured movement, value adjustment, collisions, and chamber play, Chase turns every die position into a potential tactical opportunity.
