About this board game
Claim is a two-player card game played in about 25 minutes, in which rival players compete to become king by winning the support of five factions.
The king is dead, with no known heirs, and the realm must decide who will rule next. Whether his death was foul play or the result of his own thirst, the choice now rests with the factions—and with you and your opponent.
Claim unfolds in two distinct phases. In the first phase, each player receives a hand of cards and uses those cards to recruit followers. These followers become the foundation for the struggle that follows.
- Phase one: Use your hand of cards to recruit followers.
- Phase two: Use the followers recruited earlier to compete for the support of the five factions.
Every faction has a special power that affects play, and those powers can be different in each phase. This gives each part of the game its own role as you work to build support and influence the final decision.
At the end of Claim, players compare their followers within each faction. The player with the majority of a faction’s followers wins that faction’s vote, and the player who wins at least three factions wins the game.
Released in 2017, Claim offers a focused contest for two players, combining hand management, follower recruitment, faction powers, and a clear race for the majority of the realm’s votes.
