About this board game

Clue: Discover the Secrets is a deduction game for 3–6 players that takes about 60 minutes to play. First, one person card, one weapon card, and one room card are placed secretly in an envelope at the center of the board.

The remaining cards are shuffled and dealt as evenly as possible. Each player takes the role of a suspect, then rolls the dice and moves to different rooms. Once in a room, a player can make a rumor about the hidden person, weapon, and room.

The player immediately to the rumormonger’s left may disprove the rumor by secretly showing one of the named cards. By tracking which cards other players can reveal, everyone works to identify the three cards in the envelope. The first player to name all three correctly wins.

This version adds new weapons and special abilities to the familiar deduction system. There are nine weapons instead of six:

  • Knife, Candle Stick, and Pistol
  • Poison, Trophy, and Rope
  • Bat, Ax, and Dumbbell

Each suspect has a unique power that can be used once per game. An Intrigue deck may grant an extra action, but some cards are Clock Cards instead. The player who draws the eighth Clock Card is eliminated, and every player who draws one after that is also eliminated.

One die replaces its “1” with a “?”. Any player who rolls “?” must draw an Intrigue card, adding another possible twist to movement and deduction. With its hidden cards, rumors, one-use powers, and elimination threat, Clue: Discover the Secrets gives players several new elements to consider while solving the mystery.
