About this board game

Code of Nine is a card-based board game for 3–4 players that takes about 40 minutes to play. In a world reduced to ruins, you take the role of an awakened automaton seeking to fulfill the final will of humanity.

Humanity’s will survives in fragments held by the competing automatons. To succeed, you must investigate these remnants and piece together long-lost memories while battling for victory points. The challenge is that the conditions for scoring are determined during setup.

At the beginning of the game, eight memory cards are dealt. Each player may look at only two of them, leaving important information distributed among the players. These cards determine what will generate victory points when the game reaches its conclusion.

Across each round, players choose actions that can provide useful resources and information. Possible gains include coins, books, statues, and legacies, while some actions let you peek at the memory cards held by other players.

  • Compete for victory points shaped by eight memory cards.
  • Collect coins, books, statues, and legacies.
  • Choose actions that may reveal more about rival players’ memories.
  • Plan through five rounds before final scoring.

After five rounds, the memories are evaluated and the scores are calculated. The automaton with the most victory points wins. First released as Old World And Code Of Nine, or OWACON, Code of Nine combines limited information, resource gathering, and a mysterious post-apocalyptic setting in a focused tabletop experience.
