About this board game

Cubosaurs is a dinosaur card-drafting game for 2–5 players, with games lasting around 20 minutes. Each round, players compete to build a collection of dinosaur cards while managing the opportunities and risks presented by each hand.

Every type of dinosaur has its own scoring rules. The number of cards you gather can earn you points—or cost you points—at the end of the round, making your collection an ongoing puzzle of competing values.

On your turn, decide whether to take the hand of cards offered to you or pass it to the next player. Passing is not free: you must add a card from your dinosaur herd to the hand, and that card must be different from every other card already there.

  • Draft dinosaur cards while evaluating the scoring potential of each collection.
  • Pass unwanted hands by adding a distinct card from your herd.
  • Manage positive and negative scoring effects to improve your final total.
  • Adapt your choices before you are forced to take the worst available hands.

This passing rule creates a tactical opportunity. With careful timing, you can use it to remove cards that are hurting your collection, while also making the hand less appealing for the next player.

However, every decision affects the choices that remain. To score higher than your opponents, you must balance the value of the hand in front of you against the consequences of passing it onward. Waiting too long may leave you with no choice but to accept a particularly unfavorable hand.

Released in 2022, Cubosaurs combines quick play with meaningful decisions about card numbers, timing, and risk. Build the herd that best fits the scoring rules, and make every offered hand count.
