About this board game
Day of Days: The Invasion of Normandy 1944 is a 2–8 player Standard Combat Series game covering the first ten days of the Normandy landings at company level. With a listed play time of 2160 minutes, it presents the invasion across four maps and a campaign running from June 6 through June 15, 1944.
The Allied side must land successfully and advance far enough inland to secure a rapid push into France. The Axis side seeks to defeat the initial landings or contain them, creating a stalemate. The game highlights the importance of the initial air-drops, the danger of powerful German counterattacks, and the urgent need to get off the beaches.
Built within the clean, fast-playing framework of the Standard Combat Series, Day of Days offers both a massive full campaign and more focused scenarios. Players can tackle the American landings on separate single-map scenarios, play the British and Canadian landings across two maps, or take on the complete campaign—the “Whole Enchilada.”
- Full, post-D-Day, and mid-campaign scenarios
- Utah, Omaha, American beaches, and British and Canadian beaches campaigns
- Smaller scenarios including Carentan, Cutting off the Cotentin, Canadian Crucible, and Villers Bocage
- Half-day turns, 700-meter hexes, and platoon, company, and battalion units
The 2015 release includes four 22-by-34-inch maps, eight countersheets, four setup charts, two six-sided dice, a game-specific scenario and rulebook, and the SCS 1.7 rules. Day of Days puts the opening phase of the invasion into a detailed operational setting where landing success, inland movement, and timely resistance all shape the outcome.
