About this board game

Destination X is a team-based deduction game for 2–10 players that takes about 40 minutes to play. One player becomes a spy on the run, while the other players cooperate as detectives to uncover the spy’s secret destination.

Each round begins with six destination cards placed face up. The spy secretly selects one destination and consults the corresponding page in the handbook. The detectives then use their informant cards to ask for information and narrow down the possibilities.

  • Play informants to receive truthful clues about the secret destination.
  • Use information about population, industry, religion, history, economy, and other subjects.
  • After each informant, eliminate one destination from the table.
  • Guess when you are ready—but an incorrect guess gives the round to the spy.

Detectives must balance curiosity with efficiency. Their informant cards are limited, and the spy wins if the detectives run out of them before identifying the destination. The detectives can also choose to make a guess at any time, creating a constant challenge between gathering more evidence and acting before the spy escapes.

The first side to win three rounds wins the game. No prior geographic knowledge is needed, so Destination X welcomes players with different levels of familiarity with world geography. With its cooperative structure and a moderator role for the spy, it can be played in groups of any number within its 2–10-player range.
