About this board game

Don Quixote is a tile-placement board game for 1–4 players that takes about 20 minutes to play. Each player creates their own principality from an initially empty layout, following the same order of locations as everyone else.

Every player has an identical set of 24 tiles. These tiles shape a personal realm where roads connect windmills and churches, while knights protect castles and borders. The goal is to fill the principality as effectively as possible.

Don Quixote imagines his small principality according to his own vision of reality. As a result, not every road connection needs to appear logical; what matters is how well the finished arrangement fulfills the challenge of building and protecting the realm.

  • Place 24 tiles in your own principality.
  • Connect windmills and churches with roads.
  • Protect castles and borders with knights.
  • Earn the most points to win.

Because all players use the same set of tiles and fill locations in the same order, each principality develops from identical foundations. The differences come from how effectively those tiles are placed and how well the resulting roads, castles, borders, windmills, and churches work together.

Released in 2010, Don Quixote offers a compact setting built around personal layouts and point scoring. Build the principality that best reflects Don Quixote’s imagined order, and aim to finish with the highest score.
