About this board game
Dune: The Dice Game is a dice-driven strategy game for 3–8 players, with games lasting about 120 minutes. Set in Frank Herbert’s Dune Universe, it casts players as rival Factions competing for control of Arrakis, the desert planet.
Each of the game’s six playable Factions has a small set of thematic special abilities that can break certain rules. These powers give every side a distinct way to approach the struggle while keeping the game focused on the central contest for Arrakis.
On your turn, you must balance politics, alliances, troops, and combat. Politicize, ally, and employ Kanly wisely, recruit new forces, ship them to the surface, and choose the right place to attack. The dice shape your plans: their results can be influenced to some degree, but fate may still turn against you.
- Play as one of six Factions from the Dune Universe.
- Recruit and ship troops to the surface of Arrakis.
- Form alliances and use faction abilities to bend the rules.
- Face Sandstorms, Shai-Hulud, and charismatic leaders during the struggle.
The desert is full of hazards. Sandstorms and the mighty Shai-Hulud can disrupt plans, while a charismatic leader may tip the balance of a desperate combat in your favor. Careful decisions matter, but the dice ensure that no campaign is entirely predictable.
The game ends when a Faction or Alliance controls the required number of Arrakis’ strategic Regions at the end of its turn, or after six whole rounds. Inspired by both Dune and Dune Express, Dune: The Dice Game seeks a middle ground between complexity and simplicity while staying close to the feel and lore of the original novels.
