About this board game

Dutch InterCity is a strategic railroad investment game for 2–6 players that plays in about 45 minutes. Set in the Netherlands, it challenges investors to build wealth through carefully chosen railroad stocks.

There is no luck in this short, ruthless game. Players begin with starting capital and invest it in railroad companies, while the companies’ Directors build track. The central challenge is deciding where to commit money and how to turn those investments into the greatest possible return.

At the end of every track-building round, the railroads pay dividends. Once dividends have been distributed, more railroad stock is offered to the investors, creating fresh opportunities to adjust your position and pursue greater wealth.

  • Players: 2–6
  • Playing time: about 45 minutes
  • Core focus: railroad stocks, track building, dividends, and investment decisions
  • Victory condition: make the most money

The game draws on the Netherlands’ long tradition of international trade, framing the competition as a contest between Dutch investors rather than rival national railway builders. Everyone is pursuing the same goal, but only the wisest investors will finish with the greatest fortune.

Each round gives you another chance to evaluate the railroads, anticipate the value of new stock, and make your capital work harder than your opponents’ money. In Dutch InterCity, success comes from shrewd, astute investments and disciplined decisions throughout the game.
