Embers

About this board game

Embers is a solo-only survival game for 1 player, with play time of approximately 15 minutes. In this 2025 game, a small band of heroes must defend their meager campfire from waves of encroaching monsters and keep its flame alive.

The heroes gather around a dying fire while hungry beasts wait beyond the light. Each turn, new monsters spawn and the heroes must spend their action points carefully. Use their unique strengths and movements to protect the camp, confront threats, and prepare for the next onslaught.

• Move heroes around the campfire.
• Attack approaching monsters.
• Upgrade hero abilities.
• Support the other heroes.
• Forage for material to keep the fire going.

Once the heroes have acted, the monsters strike. They damage the nearest hero or may attack the fire itself, making every decision important as the darkness closes in. The campfire is more than a source of light: as long as it lives, the heroes do too.

When the night card appears, a new round begins. To win, you must survive four full rounds without allowing the fire to be extinguished. With its focused solo format and urgent survival challenge, Embers turns each short session into a desperate fight to hold back the night.
