About this board game
Enthrone is an abstract deduction and strategy game for two players, with games lasting around 30 minutes. In this contest of intrigue, each player secretly guides one of eight potential heirs while attempting to uncover their rival’s identity.
Each player receives three identity cards and secretly chooses one identity to enthrone. The two identities they did not choose are known not to be their opponent, while two other identities remain unknown to both players. The eight figures surrounding the roughly octagonal board include the King, Priestess, Knight, Jester, Demon, Assassin, Archer, and Wizard.
Victory can come in several ways. Advance your own pawn to the throne at the center of the board, deduce your opponent’s identity and capture their pawn, or eliminate the three target identities listed on your card. These multiple objectives create a constant tension between pursuing your plan and concealing which figure you control.
The central puzzle is the hex-tile track. On each turn, players manipulate tile positions by placing a tile at the bottom and pushing the tiles above it upward. The bottom three positions are locked, while tiles in the top five can be moved.
- Only tiles in the top two positions can capture and eliminate a piece.
- Only tiles in the top three positions can move to the throne space.
- Positioning the figures is essential to both deduction and strategy.
Every move can reveal possibilities while obscuring intentions. With its striking ring of crafted character busts and tightly connected mechanisms, Enthrone offers a distinctive two-player battle of deduction, manipulation, and hidden agendas, released in 2025.
