About this board game

Faraway is a simultaneous-play exploration game for 2–6 players, with games lasting about 25 minutes. Set in the mysterious continent of Alula, it challenges you to discover regions, meet inhabitants, and record wonders while seeking more fame than your opponents.

Throughout the game, each player builds a row of 8 cards, placing them from left to right as they travel across the continent. The characters shown on these region cards can award victory points, but only when you later fulfill the conditions they require.

The central twist comes at the end of the journey. You return along the same route and score your cards in the opposite order from which you played them. As a result, every card has two important roles: it can establish a new objective for later, and it can help satisfy an objective introduced by an earlier card.

On each turn, choose one card from a hand of 3, then take a replacement from a face-up river. Because everyone plays at the same time, every decision is shaped by a clever priority system. The order in which players choose matters: being last can mean fewer options and less profitable choices for future turns.
