About this board game

Fendo is a two-player board game that plays in about 45 minutes, combining piece placement, movement, and territory enclosure in a steadily tightening contest.

Players take turns placing and moving their pieces across the available spaces. Alongside these pieces, neutral fences must be positioned between spaces to enclose areas and reshape the open playing area.

The game begins with one large open area. As players divide this space and close off more areas, the number of possible actions decreases. Every enclosure therefore contributes to a game state with fewer remaining choices.

  • Designed for exactly two players
  • Approximately 45 minutes of play
  • Players place and move their pieces
  • Neutral fences enclose and split areas
  • The available actions decrease as areas are closed

Fendo ends when no more actions remain. At that point, players compare their total territory, and the player with the largest amount wins.

Released in 2014, Fendo focuses on the changing relationship between movement, placement, and space. The initially open area gradually becomes divided, making the reduction of available actions a central part of the game’s progression and conclusion.
