About this board game

Final Fantasy Trading Card Game is a two-player trading card game for the Final Fantasy video game world, with games lasting around 30 minutes. Each player uses their own deck of 50 character cards and plays cards by spending CP, or crystal points.

The game features three kinds of character cards, each serving a distinct role:

  • Forward character cards can attack, block, and use various abilities.
  • Backup character cards produce CP and may have additional abilities.
  • Summoned Creature cards provide a one-shot ability.

CP comes from two main sources. Discarding a card produces 2 CP, while tapping, or dulling, a backup character card produces 1 CP. Players use these resources to bring character cards into play and make use of their abilities.

During their turn, the current player may attack with a forward character. The opponent can block an attacker with one of their own forward characters. If an attacker is not blocked, it deals one damage to the opponent.

Victory comes in either of two ways: deal 7 damage to your opponent, or win when your opponent runs out of cards. With its CP system, distinct card roles, and direct attack-and-blocking rules, Final Fantasy Trading Card Game brings popular characters from various Final Fantasy video games to the table in a focused head-to-head contest.
