The game is set in a peaceful village haunted by wicked ghosts, under the command of the ruthless lord of the underworld, Wu-Feng. As players, you step into the shoes of fearless Taoist priests, tasked with defending the village and its inhabitants from these spectral invaders. Your mission is to exorcise these ghosts before they overrun the village and resurrect Wu-Feng.

The core mechanics of Ghost Stories are quite engaging. Each player takes a turn, which comprises of two phases:

• Yin Phase: This phase belongs to the ghosts. New ghosts appear, and existing ghosts exert their nefarious influence on the game.
• Yang Phase: This is the player’s phase. Players can move around the village, request help from villagers, exorcise ghosts, and manage their resources to fend off the spectral onslaught.

Players must work together, strategizing and planning their moves carefully, to exorcise the ghosts while managing their resources. The game is lost if all the players are haunted or if the ghost deck runs out before Wu-Feng is defeated.
