About this board game
Gorilla Marketing is a 2020 party game for 3–8 players that takes about 40 minutes to play. Players become 1960s advertising executives—replaced by gorillas—and compete to create ridiculous products, movies, companies, bands, college courses, or food trucks.
The game unfolds across two creative rounds. In Round 1, each player chooses a category and places it at the top of their booklet. Categories might include themes such as Horror or Western in the movie pack. Players then pass booklets to the left while rolling dice to form an acronym.
Using the rolled letters and the category shown on the booklet in front of them, each player writes the name of a suitably absurd movie or other creation. When the booklets return to their owners, the players use the unusual awards on their cards to judge the answers. A winning title earns the most important advertising-agency reward: bananas.
- Choose a category and invent a ridiculous title.
- Use dice-generated acronyms to guide every answer.
- Pass booklets around so players contribute to one another’s creations.
- Judge entries using imaginative award categories.
Round 2 revisits the winning titles from Round 1. Players pass the booklets again and use new acronyms to write advertising taglines for those titles. The best taglines earn even more bananas.
With its blend of spontaneous wordplay, shifting prompts, creative judging, and escalating rewards, Gorilla Marketing turns familiar advertising ideas into a contest of wonderfully bad imagination. It is a lively choice for groups who enjoy party games built around naming, writing, and making each other laugh.
