Hashi

About this board game

Hashi is a competitive bridge-building puzzle game for 1–4 players, playable in about 20 minutes. Based on the Hashiwokakero logic puzzle, it challenges you to connect islands while completing as many of them as possible.

Each side of the board shows 18 islands, including red-flagged and blue-flagged islands. Players write numbers on islands and then pass the board to the player on their left. During each turn, a revealed card shows a numeral from 1–6 and a number of bridges to draw.

Write the numeral on an island without a number, or on a flagged island only when at least one bridge already connects to it. Then draw the specified number of bridges between orthogonally adjacent islands. Bridges cannot cross, no more than two can connect the same pair of islands, and an island cannot have more connected bridges than its numeral allows.

• Circle an island when its connected bridges equal its numeral.
• Skip one or both parts of a card when you choose to or must.
• Earn bonuses for completing all red-flagged islands, all blue-flagged islands, or six connected islands.

Bonuses favor the first player to complete each goal. Other players can still complete that goal later, but receive a lower bonus. After 17 cards have been revealed and played, players score 2 points for every circled island, then add their bonus points.

With its combination of numbered islands, restricted bridge placement, and race-to-complete objectives, Hashi turns a familiar logic-puzzle concept into a direct competitive contest. A solo mode uses the same rules, with bonuses awarded only when goals are completed within a specified number of turns.
