About this board game

Hex Hex XL is a fast-playing, highly interactive card game for 3–6 players, with games lasting around 30 minutes. Players use cards to redirect Hex tokens around the table, trying to avoid becoming the player who can no longer pass one on.

Each Hex can be redirected, deflected, or have its power altered as it moves between players. The tension builds until someone runs out of options and becomes HEXED. Hexed players lose points, while the last player to pass the Hex gains points.

At the end of the game, the player with the most points becomes the Voice. This is more than a title: the Voice creates a new rule for the next game, giving the winner a way to influence future plays and shape the group’s experience.

  • For 3–6 players
  • Approximately 30 minutes per game
  • Redirect, deflect, and alter Hex tokens with cards
  • Hexed players lose points, while the final player to pass the Hex gains points
  • The player with the most points creates a new rule for the next game

Hex Hex XL is described as the definitive edition, combining the best of classic Hex Hex and Hex Hex Next. It also adds two new variants: Hex Hex Vexed and Hexen Stix.

Released in 2010, Hex Hex XL centers on constant interaction and rapidly changing control of the Hex. With players continually trying to redirect it elsewhere, every pass can move the danger—and the scoring opportunity—to another player.
