About this board game

Jurassic Parts is a 2–5-player area-control and set-collection tile game about excavating dinosaur fossils, with an approximate play time of 45 minutes.

All players work from the same slab of rock, where more than a dozen dinosaur fossils lie buried among the hex tiles. Geological forces have mixed up the remains, so players must carefully split the slab apart and claim the pieces needed to build complete dinosaur skeletons.

On each turn, players place their sharpened chisels onto the lines around the hex tiles. When a section of the slab breaks away from the remaining rock, the separated tiles are divided among the players who helped contribute to the break. Those tiles are then assembled into dinosaur fossils with different point values.

The goal is to complete skeletons and build the highest-scoring collection. Larger and better fossils are especially valuable, making every break in the shared slab an opportunity to improve your reputation as a paleontologist—or claim a prized dinosaur for your living room or museum.

  • 45 Fossil Hex Tiles, plus plant and bone pile tiles
  • 72 Chisels in six player colors
  • Field Guides and a Field Leader Board
  • Unique Character Boards, Amber, and Resource Cards

Designed by Kevin Lanzing and illustrated by Andrew Bosley, Jurassic Parts combines tactile tile placement with competitive area control and fossil set collection. Once every tile has been collected, players total the points from their completed fossils, and the highest score wins.
