About this board game
L.A.M.A. Kadabra is a card game for 2–6 players that plays in about 20 minutes, combining the core gameplay of L.L.A.M.A. with new choices, actions, and magical surprises.
Each player begins a round with six cards. On your turn, play a card matching the top discard or one number higher, draw a card, or quit. Sixes can be followed by a six or a llama, while llamas can be followed by another llama or a 1. If you empty your hand, you may return one previously collected chip; otherwise, cards left in hand score points, so deciding when to keep playing is crucial.
L.A.M.A. Kadabra adds four features that make every round less predictable:
- Double cards such as 2/3 and 4/5 offer more ways to play, but count as both numbers when left in your hand.
- Action cards can make another player give away a lowest chip or force the next player to draw before taking their turn.
- The magic chip can be claimed from its current holder, then discarded later to skip a turn. It is worth 10 points at round’s end if you still hold it.
- The magic show begins when at least five chips reach the magic stage after llama plays. Keep adding chips with llamas, or take the staged chips to end the show.
White chips are worth 1 point, while black chips and the magic chip are worth 10. The game ends after a round in which at least one player reaches 40 or more total points. Unlike many scoring games, the winner is the player with the fewest points.
