About this board game

Latice Hawaiʻi is a tile-laying game for 2–4 players with a playing time of about 20 minutes. Set in a legendary struggle between Pele and Moʻo, it challenges players to become the champion of Hawaiʻi.

On each turn, players lay tiles onto the play area. Every tile presents an animal and an element, and placement requires the animal or element to match those shown on adjacent tiles. Careful planning can create opportunities for extra moves, rewarding superior strategy and thoughtful positioning.

Latice Hawaiʻi is designed to be easy to learn and hard to master. Its matching system provides a clear starting point for new players, while the pursuit of additional moves gives experienced players more strategic decisions to consider during a compact game.

The game’s theme draws on the mythic conflict between Pele and Moʻo. Moʻo has summoned the elements and animals of Hawaiʻi to create an insurmountable challenge, placing each game within a contest for dominion over the islands.

The 2019 edition introduces new components and thoughtfully revised content. It also expands the experience with rules for several different ways to play:

  • Kid mode for a tailored experience
  • Timed modes for games with time-based rules
  • Advanced player modes for additional challenge

Whether you are discovering tile matching for the first time or looking for deeper opportunities to optimize each turn, Latice Hawaiʻi offers a focused game of animals, elements, and strategic extra moves.
