About this board game
Lifeform is a dice-less survival horror board game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. One player controls an almost invincible, hostile alien, while the other players take the roles of the crew aboard the commercial mining starship Valley Forge.
The crew must search their labyrinthine vessel for equipment, weapons, and supplies, then load what they need onto the escape shuttlecraft Remora. Their handheld sensors are unreliable because of a nearby nebula, making every search more tense as the alien hunts through the ship.
Both sides have a unique deck of cards, with symbols showing the actions available to them. The alien can move through the starship, attack crew members, cocoon them, activate the malfunctioning android, sabotage equipment and wiring, and slip into the vents.
The crew has its own range of desperate options:
- Search the ship for useful equipment and supplies.
- Move or run through the vessel while managing the threat.
- Use flamethrowers and shock-prods to defend themselves.
- Hide and shut security doors to slow the alien’s advance.
At the heart of the experience is an innovative self-destruct mechanism. The crew must balance survival, exploration, and escape while the alien ruthlessly attempts to prevent their plan. Alternate playable endings reflect whether the crew succeeds, creating a tense and suspenseful adventure each time Lifeform reaches the table.
Set aboard a battered mining starship far from Earth, Lifeform presents a focused science-fiction horror scenario for players who enjoy hidden danger, desperate decisions, and a powerful alien threat.
