About this expansion

Mage Wars: Druid vs. Necromancer is a two-mage expansion for two players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. Released in 2013, it focuses on Nature and dark magic through two distinctive approaches to controlling the arena.

The Druid is the undisputed master of plants. Rather than using traditional spawnpoints, she allows plants to grow spontaneously across the arena, building a slow and steady presence that can accelerate into considerable power. Her affinity with the Water school lets her heal, restore, and grow her plants.

Nature is also a weapon in the Druid’s hands. She can strike enemies with geyser-like blasts of water or use downpours of acid rain. Leaving her unchecked gives her growth time to flourish, making her a powerful answer to an opponent who relies on a defensive strategy.

The Necromancer takes a very different path, relying on a relentless assault from the dead. His Graveyard spawnpoint summons armies of skeletons, zombies, and ghouls, while his control over evil spirits brings ghosts and wraiths into play.

  • Skeletons: fragile undead that can reassemble from a pile of bones and attack again.
  • Zombies: slow creatures that are exceptionally difficult to kill.
  • Death and disease: dark forces that allow the Necromancer to spread plagues across the arena.

Mage Wars: Druid vs. Necromancer offers a sharp contrast between accelerating natural growth and an unending undead offensive. Choose the Druid to cultivate an expanding force, or command the Necromancer for a sinister stream of creatures and spirits.
