N: The Napoleonic Wars is a solitaire grand-strategy game for one player, with an approximate play time of 240 minutes. Released in 2017, it places you in command of the monarchist Coalitions, led by Britain, while the game’s A.I. controls Napoleonic France.

Each turn represents an average of two years of real time, creating a sweeping campaign across the Napoleonic Wars. Your ultimate objective is to force Napoleon to abdicate through a combination of military defeats in Europe and military or diplomatic setbacks overseas.

European victory depends on using your armies while holding together an unwieldy coalition. You must also decide how to spend limited cash and diplomatic assets on overseas campaigns, with semi-random outcomes creating unexpected challenges throughout the game.

Budgets must be prioritized carefully. Cash and diplomatic assets can support overseas efforts, while financial resources can also be used to subsidize the minor states of Europe whose armies are key to victory. The campaign therefore asks you to balance military operations, naval battles, diplomacy, and coalition management.

N: The Napoleonic Wars is filled with random events and shifting pressures, making each solitaire attempt an effort to respond to new problems while pursuing a decisive outcome. If Napoleon has not been defeated by the end of Turn 16, covering 1818–1821, he dies of natural causes; an exhausted Europe then makes peace with his son, and you lose the game.
