About this board game

One Piece Nakama: Friends & Enemies is a cooperative board game for 1–5 players, with games lasting about 45 minutes. Players take the roles of Luffy and other members of the Strawhat crew as they journey through the One Piece Saga.

The heart of the game is recruitment. Players bring new friends into the crew, drawing from a roster of 100 characters from the One Piece world. The friends currently in the crew determine which quests can be completed and which enemies can be defeated.

• Recruit friends and build the crew.
• Use the crew’s combination of abilities to fulfill quests.
• Defeat enemies and collect their rewards.
• Keep the threat level from rising too high.

Every undefeated enemy increases the threat level. If it rises too far, the crew begins losing friends, and losing too many friends means losing the game. This creates a shared challenge in which the group must balance immediate quests against the danger posed by enemies left in play.

A flexible Boss system lets players shuffle as many bosses as they want into the Enemies deck. This allows the game to be adjusted for different preferences and makes it approachable for both gamers and more casual players.

Knowledge of One Piece is not required to enjoy the game, while fans may appreciate details in the character abilities. In One Piece Nakama: Friends & Enemies, the friends encountered along the journey are the crew’s real strength.
