About this board game

Ovation is an engine-building game for 1–4 players that takes about 60 minutes, inviting you to become one of the greatest classical composers of all time. Seek inspiration, pursue fortune, cultivate aristocratic patronage, and perform musical masterpieces as you build your legacy.

Each turn, choose one of four actions: Seek Inspiration, Seek Fortune, Seek Patronage, or Perform. Inspiration is your primary resource, and it comes in three distinct tones: Joy, Passion, and Sorrow.

• Seek Inspiration to gain resources.
• Seek Fortune to acquire cards by spending inspiration.
• Seek Patronage to acquire cards by spending inspiration.
• Perform to turn inspiration into progress through your musical ambitions.

While gathering inspiration is essential, the other actions require you to spend it wisely to acquire cards. You can also draw inspiration from your rivals’ performances, using their creative achievements to help shape your own works of genius.

As the game builds toward its crescendo, complete specific goals to gain Maestro cards and bring the game to an end. Every decision contributes to the legacy you are creating, from the tones of inspiration you collect to the opportunities you pursue.

In Ovation, the player with the most points wins. Compose your masterpiece, secure your legacy, and prove that your vision deserves the greatest ovation.
