Party Alias

About this board game

Party Alias is a standalone party word game for 4–24 players, with an approximate playing time of 30 minutes. Released in 2009, it updates the original Alias with four major gameplay categories that bring fresh ways to explain the words on the cards.

Instead of relying on a single type of clue, Party Alias asks players to communicate through storytelling, feelings, physical expression, and descriptions of famous people. Each category changes the style of the challenge, creating a varied experience from card to card.

• Book: Tell a story using all the words on the card.
• Smiley: Explain words that depict a specific feeling, such as embarrassed, angry, happy, crying, afraid, drunk, depressed, or hysterical.
• Pose: Create unusual poses.
• Camera: Try to describe a celebrity.

The Book category turns the card’s words into the ingredients for a story, while Smiley focuses on expressing a defined emotional state. Pose adds unusual physical presentation, and Camera challenges players to describe a celebrity.

As a standalone update of Alias, Party Alias keeps the focus on explaining words while expanding the range of ways players do so. With support for large groups of 4–24 players and a listed play time of around 30 minutes, it is designed for a party setting where every new card can introduce a different kind of performance.
