About this board game

Piou Piou is a 2–5 player game with a playing time of about 10 minutes, in which players race to be the first to get three chicks.

The hen house is in a panic: the fox is prowling, and the eggs have not yet hatched. On a turn, a player chooses either to throw a card into the pot or to carry out one of the game’s actions.

  • Lay an egg: Present a hen, rooster, and nest card to take an egg card and place it in front of you, egg side up.
  • Give birth to a chick: Present two hen cards while imitating a hen’s cry, then turn over one of your eggs to reveal a newborn chick.
  • Take an egg: Present a fox card to an opponent and ask for an egg card, not a chick. That player may counter-attack by presenting two rooster cards.

Every egg is a potential chick, but opponents can interfere before it hatches. The fox creates a chance to take an unhatched egg from another player, while the rooster cards provide a way to defend it.

Piou Piou combines simple card combinations with direct interaction and a playful hen-call requirement. Players must decide when to build toward an egg, when to hatch one, and when to use the fox against an opponent.

With its short 10-minute playing time and support for two to five players, Piou Piou offers a compact race from eggs to chicks. The winner is the first player to manage to get three chicks.
