About this board game

Pocket Ops is a two-player deduction and area-control game with an approximately 20-minute play time, released in 2017.

As rival spymasters, players position their agents to outmaneuver one another and dominate the battlefield. Built on the familiar framework of Tic-Tac-Toe, the game turns simple foundations into a contest of prediction, positioning, and clever tactical choices.

The battlefield exists as much in the minds of the spymasters as it does on the board. Players must stay one step ahead, anticipating their opponent’s moves and preventing them from gaining ground while working toward their own objective.

  • Two-player deduction: Read your opponent and predict where they will act.
  • Area control: Position agents to contest and dominate the battlefield.
  • Elite agents: Use specialists with distinctive names and roles, including the Assassin, Sniper, Pusher, Grappler, and Hacker.

Even when a position seems hopeless, a well-timed use of an elite agent can turn the game around. These agents give Pocket Ops its moments of surprise, allowing a clever play to snatch victory away from an opponent who appears to be in control.

The ultimate goal is direct: be the first player to capture both parts of the doomsday device. When that happens, the game is over for the opposing spymaster. With its accessible Tic-Tac-Toe framework and emphasis on reading the opponent, Pocket Ops offers a compact head-to-head challenge where every move can reshape the battle.
