About this board game

Queen Alice is a mid-heavy Eurogame for 1–4 players, with games lasting around 120 minutes. Inspired by Through the Looking-Glass, it invites you into a strange chess-filled world where you must prepare Alice’s coronation banquet.

As a member of the Court on the Other Side of the Looking-Glass, you will convince chess pieces to help with the preparations. In your turn, activate different actions using chess pieces and their familiar movements through a card-driven system.

Queen Alice focuses on building an engine that steadily improves your options. During the game, you gain passive and instant benefits, along with enhanced cards for your hand. These cards strengthen the actions you activate, creating the game’s distinctive “Chess-building” system.

  • Use chess pieces and their movements to activate actions.
  • Gain benefits and enhanced cards to improve your engine.
  • Compete for influence over Alice’s Red and White crowns.

The most tense element is the race to shape Alice’s final crown. Her Wishes are objectives that provide victory points, but only some will be accomplished and scored during or at the end of the game. You must choose your actions carefully, advance your Influence toward the color that best serves your interests, and watch opponents who may be pursuing the other side.

Depending on which color’s pieces contribute most to the banquet, Alice may be crowned the White Queen, the Red Queen, or even both. In this original story inspired by Lewis Carroll’s setting and chess imagery, the player who does the best job becomes the new Queen’s right-hand person.
