About this expansion
Raiders of the North Sea: Solo Variant is a single-player board game variant with an approximate play time of 50 minutes, released in 2018. It adapts the Raiders of the North Sea experience for one player by adding an AI opponent directed by 23 Scheme Cards.
You always take your turn first, followed by your opponent. Your turns work as they do in the standard game, with one exception: one Village location is blocked each turn. This restriction changes the available options as you plan each round.
When the opponent takes a turn, reveal the top card from the Schemes Draw Pile and follow its instructions. These cards drive the AI opponent’s decision-making process, providing the framework for its actions throughout the game.
- Designed for 1 player
- Includes 23 Scheme Cards
- Your turn comes before the opponent’s turn
- One Village location is blocked on each of your turns
- The opponent attempts to Raid whenever possible, otherwise it Works
The opponent follows a clear priority: it will always attempt to Raid if it can. If Raiding is not possible, it will Work instead, with the revealed Scheme Card determining how its turn operates.
This variant is also compatible with Hall of Heroes, Fields of Fame, and all promo materials. Raiders of the North Sea: Solo Variant offers a dedicated way to play the game alone while retaining the standard turn structure for your own actions.
