About this board game
Roll Through the Ages: The Iron Age with Mediterranean Expansion is a 1–4 player civilization game that lets you build an Iron Age empire in about 30 minutes.
Develop your civilization by building provinces, raising armies, and conquering barbarians, or pursue trade by constructing ports and ships. You must also erect monuments, fend off disasters, and strive to feed your people as your empire grows.
The game offers distinct strategic directions inspired by the ancient Mediterranean. Explore the trade and naval strengths of the Phoenicians, the conquests of Alexander the Great, or the engineering prowess and gradual absorption of new provinces associated with the Roman Republic.
- Crete: provides fleets.
- Spain: supports mining.
- Carthage: provides wheat.
- Gaul: supports armies.
- Syracuse: brings the innovations of Archimedes.
- Alexandria: provides vital innovations.
The Mediterranean Expansion adds overseas settlements through a central pegboard shared by all players. Race to claim the benefits of these strategic colonies while balancing military growth, trade, resources, and innovation.
Some copies include the expansion in the base-game box, while it is also available separately from Eagle Games or as part of a new edition. When sold separately, the expansion does not include rules or the updated score pads with expansion scoring. Roll Through the Ages: The Iron Age was released in 2014.
